June. The Highlight of the flower season are the spectacular displays of Orchids. If you are lucky you may spot a Bee Orchid near the Oakthorpe car park path. Broad-leaved Helleborines may be seen later in July/August in the oak plantation west of the hard path at the end of the lake. This brings the total to 4 species of Orchid - not bad for what used the be an opencast mine site and fields of Oilseed Rape.
