Long
Close and Top Wood, Linton
Looking North towards Top Wood entrance
from Grangewood, Netherseal entrance.
A nice old stag oak by Park Farm. It
is 14.5 feet in girth making it about 180 years old.
One of the 5 ponds on the nortern and
Linton side of Top Wood providing excellent habitat for birds and insects.
This one is by the road to Park Farm.
Wide open meadow areas have been left
for nesting. The area was previously known for Skylarks and Quail and
the Trust had it surveyed in 2000 for breeding pairs before finalising
the tree planting plan.

One of the public footpaths goes through
part of the adjacent private Potter's Wood and provides a vision of what
the rest of the site will be like in 80 years....
... but for now, from Grangewood Car
Park the newly planted areas make good walks with expansive views. Potter's
Wood can be seen in the background centre.
