85 acres. Access land to extend walks. Maturing nicely as it is getting on for 10 years old. Lakes nearby and good views. Memorial stone to Royal Tigers Regiment (Leicester).

82 acres. Parking. Nearly all new planting but maturing rapidly. Excellent walk round perimeter. Trees are a good size and Coton has 3 good pubs. New access woodland opposite to extend the walk.

Felicity's & Martin's Woods
near Beacon Hill Country Park
Just north of Beacon Hill on Dean's Lane. Woods are either side of lane and provide a steep hilly walk with connecting footpaths to the Beacon and Nanpanton. Martin's Wood was planted in 1995 with 3,500 trees and Felicity's Wood was planted in 1997 with 13,000 trees.

Foxley Wood

71 acres. Over 50,000 trees planted 1996/7 and maturing rapidly. Parking and access from both ends of village (recommend Linton Heath). Very good walks and a viewpoint from a massive old Ash in the centre of the site.The picture shows the sign board which you will find at each wood giving information about the site.

200 acres. Access from either Linton or the Netherseal to Coton road with Parking (recommended) at access land which extends the available walking by about another 100 acres - you can spend half a day here. The new trees are not high but there is some mature pine plantation to explore at the centre and oak woodland to the East. Excellent birding in summer.

250 acres. Mature with stands of pine being removed gradually. It straddles the M1 but this does not detract from the excellent walking and birding.

21 acres. Unique plan to have an avenue retaining the view of the old Nether Hall. Good short walks with 2 streams and a water meadow by the Repton road.

Sledge Wood

Small but perfectly formed. Steep drumlin (glacial) hillside with excellent views to Derbyshire Dales (and Toyota). Park at side road to Milton. Stream with bridge to Repton, some mature trees including a large apple and gorse on hillside. Look for the ancient Sweet Chestnuts running up the hedgerow near the pylon - they are 250 years old.

25 acres but seems a lot larger. Park along side road to Old Parks Farm and walk either side. Excellent meadow flowers in spring. Can walk there from Ashby or Smisby.
